HOURS AND DAYS OF OPERATION

Platypus Playcare operates on
Tuesdays, and Thursdays only and operates in conjunction with the QLD State School Terms and QLD Public Holidays.

Tuesdays & Thursdays 8.00am – 3.30pm
The centre will be closed on Public Holidays and will not charge fees for these days. The centre may offer an alternate day of care in a week where a Public Holiday falls where possible. However, we reserve the right not to provide an alternate day.

Information regarding Public Holidays will be displayed on the Parent Information Board for your information. Parents and carers will be advised two weeks prior to a Public Holiday of any offered alternate days, and bookings can then be made for that day.

ABOUT THE CENTRE

Platypus Playcare is a Registered Care, Limited Hours Child Care Centre and we are licensed for 21 children per day. We offer a mixed aged care environment where all the children are together in one room which complies with the QLD Development Code – MP 5.4 in regards to spacing.
Information about the groups is displayed at the centre.
Limited Hours Child Care Centre means a Child Care Centre that:
  • Provides care for no more than 21 children at any one time
  • Operates for not more than 20 hours in a week
  • Where the ages of the children in the group are from birth to school age (centre policy states we accept children from 6 months to school age)
  • May not include school age children
  • May not include more than four (4) children under age of 12 months at any given time
  • May not include more than two (2) children under age of 12 months for each qualified carer
  • The staff ratio must be one (1) staff member to seven (7) children – 1:7
  • Can take one (1) extra child for Emergency Care *


*Emergency Care is when the Child Care Centre is fully booked but a parent has an emergency and cannot find alternate care E.g. Hospitalisation or critical care. Emergency Care also applies if the Office for Early Childhood Education and Care urgently need to place a child in care for specific reasons.
